BITMAPS
These
paintings are made by creating a grid (mostly by felt tip pen and wax
crayons), and then applying buttons at the intersection points to create
a 3D effect, and then adding a transluscent all-over colour to create
a mono colour image. The background grid and buttons show through the
top colour to create movement and rhythm. As with "Suite
Sixteen", the individual paintings, while complete in themselves,
when put together with the others form a whole (as left). Like many
of my images, these paintings are symmetrical and have a central focal
point - a small construction of 2 or 3 larger buttons. Each individual
painting is 30cms / 12" square.
