painting of the week number 1
This painting is the first PAINTING OF THE WEEK and has been for many many months now so it's time for a change. A lot of people have given me very kind comments about this painting before and I may well have sold it before if I had the facility to do so. I have decided not to put this canvas up for sale, because it is very large. If you are, however, seriously interested in buying this painting then please email me.

A very large painting. This painting was part of the series of about 12-15 large paintings that I painted just at the end of the life of the studio in Carpenters Road, London E.15. I had had a stretcher building frenzy and built a lot of big sized canvases all at once. They were made from wood or from other discarded stretchers that I had rescued from the studios skips. These paintings were exploring the organisation of colour in grid, stripe or circular formats. Some are multi-coloured, some are mono-coloured (like this one). There are, of course, dozens of different hues and shades of blue in this painting, so it is scarcely monochrome. I have received many favourable comments about this particular painting from around the world. This large abstract glows and can be viewed with equal interest from both near and far. Close-up the hand drawn lines of oil pastel (against the ruled lines which "snap" the picture into focus) can be seen more clearly and from a distance the whole painting has a rhythm. This painting is large and would look well in the atrium or vestible of an office or hotel or large domestic wallspace. It would occupy most of the average wall size in an average British home, that BIG! This painting is for sale - please email me if you are interested. Thankyou.
