On
this page I have chosen a different painting each week to highlight. I
will provide a more detailed description of the picture than in the original
webpage it was on. However they may also be brand new works too - never
seen before. What is the picture about, what methods did I use to make
it etc? I will try to regularly update this (and photo
of the week), although there will no doubt be occasions when I am
unable to adhere to the schedule (holidays, forgetfulness, for examples).
What I mean is that a week may not actually mean exactly a week!
A fairly small abstract
painting using oil pastel, paint, pva and glass beads. I painted this
one in the studio at Commercial Road. It is the first of an ongoing
series that I've continued working on at the new studio in Mile End,
using these glass beads that people put in glass vessels for display
purposes. I think they are wonderful and they have been central to the
recent abstract paintings. I've done maybe 10 of these now. I'll get
pics of them on-line as soon as I can. This painting is for sale - please
email me if you are interested
or you can pay directly if you have a PAYPAL account using a credit
or debit card.

This is the first painting I have
had for sale on-line and I hope it will be the one of many. This has
been a long term project and dream to get the website financially viable.
If I going to support myself as an artist I needed to get my work out
there and seen (of which stage one was getting the website going), and
stage two, which is having the facility to be able to become an on-line
merchant. Selling over the internet means that basically the middleperson
(the gallery owner or the agent) doesn't get a share in the transaction
so is cut out from the sale. This means that you do not have to pay
extra for their otherwise share. Therefore you pay less than you would
if you saw it in a gallery. Of course, looking at the painting virtually,
digitally, means you can't see it in real life, but hey, it means you
can view a version of the painting if you live in Asia or Alaska or
even in the Amazon, such is the miracle of the internet. You, the potential
buyer and possible soon to be owner of one of my paintings, benefit
from this disadvantage of not viewing the painting in a gallery,
for I have to sell it at a lesser price because of that. Exhibiting
in galleries have the associated costs of rent, salaries, percentage
and taxes. A virtual gallery or exhibition has none of those costs.
Initially, I will be pricing the work at silly
low, low prices as a way of generating sales and to see how this selling
on-line thing goes. So the first few works will be priced at introductory
special offer deals. So now is the ideal time to buy one of my paintings
while they are ridiculously cheap. Rest assured, not only will you be
buying an original artwork, something of beauty, but that also its financial
value will accrue.
THANKYOU
VERY MUCH
Justin
